Shipping & Returns

 Shipping Timeline

United States Orders: 4-10 business days for delivery in addition to the initial processing/creation time.

Canadian Orders: 3-10 business days for delivery (depending on your province) in addition to the initial processing/creation time.

If you need your items by a specific date, please send me a message in advance so that I can confirm if I am able to meet the deadline. 

Shipping Address

All items will be shipped to the mailing address currently listed at checkout. If you would like the items sent to an alternative address (within the same country) please update the delivery address at the time of checkout, or send me a message within 24 hours of the order. Chalkboard Chique cannot cover additional shipping charges to re-send items if the original mailing address provided by the buyer is incorrect. 

If an item is "returned to sender" (sent back to Chalkboard Chique) due to address issues, customers have the following options:

  1. Paying for the additional shipping charges to have the item re-shipped. Shipping charges will reflect "return" and "re-shipment" fees. If an item was originally purchased with free shipping, shipping charges will apply if an item is re-sent as the shipping charges cannot be absorbed twice by Chalkboard Chique. 

    2) If you do not wish to pay shipping charges to the new mailing address, the order would be cancelled and a refund will be issued for the item total minus the shipping charges that were paid for by seller. Original shipping charges will not be refunded as they will have already been "used" for the initial shipment attempt. 

Custom pieces that are marked "return-to-sender" where customers do not want to pay for re-shipment will only be eligible for a 50% refund of the item, less the shipping charges, due to the custom nature of the pieces.

Shipping & Handling Costs

Shipping prices reflect the option that includes a tracking number so that you can follow where the items are in transit. All chalkboards with the exception of the adulting chalkboard collection and the weekly planners come with tracking.  Chalk, stickers, and ornaments are also shipped in such a small package that tracking is not included. 

Because of the fragile nature of the items, actual shipping postage may be slightly less than quoted because I invest the remaining funds in bubblewrap and shipping boxes in addition to the CanadaPost shipping rate. 

Customs & Duties

If you live outside of Canada, you may have to pay duties or taxes when you receive your package. This is completely outside of my control and I cannot provide a quote (unfortunately) so please check with your local post office and/or postal services if you have duties-/taxes-related questions.

Please note, the full purchase price of your order will be declared on the customs form. The forms are automatically populated through Canada Post/USPS and I am not able to mark orders as "Samples" or "Gifts".

Ottawa/Local Pick Up

Local pick up is available in Ottawa (Kanata) and is typically scheduled between 6-8 pm on a mutually agreed upon weekday evening. If clients are unable to make a confirmed pick-up time, Chalkboard Chique requires at least 48 hours notice to re-schedule.

If no pick-up can be arranged within 21 days (3 weeks) of being notified your order is ready, or if customers are no-shows, the item will be cancelled and refunded less a 20% restocking fee.

Return Policy

All items are final sale. A lot of love, labour, and attention to detail is put into each handmade item to make sure its the best quality possible. If you aren't sure before you buy, or want to chat, we'd be happy to help to make sure you know exactly what you are getting. The only exception to the return policy is if an item is broken in transit (see below).

Broken In Transit

If for some reason an item is broken in transit, please send a message within 5 days of delivery with with a photo of the broken item AND the package it came in. I will then initiate a damage claim with the post office immediately. Unfortunately, Canada Post requires the recipient to answer a few questions so I kindly ask you to look out for this information in your email inbox. 

Customers will have the following options:
1) Refund for the cost of the items broken
2) Re-shipment of the number of items broken by regular post

*** I cannot initiate the refund/re-shipment process if customer does not respond to the Canada Post case.***

Customers must respond to the Canada Post email within 15 days or the insurance claim will no longer be valid and cannot be passed to the customer. Refund option to customer will no longer be available after 15 days from date of claim if no response is made.


All items are hand-made and one-of-a-kind therefore if for any reason you need to cancel your order, full refunds can only be issued within 48 hours of your purchase otherwise, your item will have been started.

If you must cancel your order after 48 hours of your purchase, but before an item has shipped, a 20% "restocking fee" will apply.
